Another sad farewell

Today we had to say goodbye to our 4 year old Shepherd, Moxie. Obviously she was not one of our Setters, but she was a part of our pack. Suddenly she was randomly vomiting the past 24 hours. Sam took her to the vet today and they determined she was in end stage kidney failure due to Lyme disease. No other symptoms at all except for vomiting. Now we need to have Deacon and Ghillie tested. Makes you wonder why we continue to have dogs. This never does get any easier.

I'm really sorry to hear that Mike. Was Moxie on something like Frontline? I had my two vaccinated for Lymes but my female still contracted Anaplasmosis, another tick born disease, after being on Frontline year round. Wishing Deacon and Ghillie a clean bill of health.
No, it does'nt get any easier but the old joke is- just lock your dog and your wife in the closet for a few hours and guess who is glad to see you when you let them out.

Daryl, we have our dogs on the Seresto collar. Never found an attached tick on any of them that was engorged or alive. Ususlly they are found unattached and dead. Now along with Lyme we have to be concerned with a handful of other tick borne illnesses.

Both Deacon and Ghillie have been tested for Lyme and both came up negative. Good to know.
