Rotary Bolt

Post by reddog »

Hello, Does anyone know if the rotary bolt for a 12 ga sterlingworth will fit a 16 ga . In other words are they the same size? Thanks

Reddog,

Don't believe they are... seems I asked this question recently myself. If you are looking for a small bore rotary bolt, you can post up here and someone likely has one... have seen several small bore parts guns run through the auction sites over the years.
Cheers!

Thanks for the replies, I had gotten a bolt through Numrich but they didnt specify the guage. Odds are it is probably a 12 guage but Im not sure how to tell short of removing the one from my 16 ga and comparing.

Genuine NOS Fox 12 gauge bolts will measure .685" diameter, +/- about 1/2 thou. Check the one you bought to determine if it's 12 gauge size or not. As Bobby has already written, Fox smallbore bolts are smaller.

Just as a PS: if your gun has a loose lockup, there's more to it than popping in a new bolt. In that case I strongly recommend sending the gun to a qualified Fox gunsmith for evaluation/repair. It's not the thing for someone who is learning as they go, IMO. Silvers
