Cleaning Question

Post by WillRay »

I have been told a good way to clean guns exterior is to use oil and fine steel wool. I am trying to get back to the original look. The gun is not bad condition at all, only needs a bit of cleaning due to handling. Is this a safe method to use?
Thanks, Will

Very fine steel wool is safe to clean blued barrel exteriors but not the case colored action. Go very slow and be very gentle, improper cleaning can kill the value of a vintage gun. Pictures of the gun would be helpful.
